HH YAH formed in 2008 is a club for the over 50’s who meet once a month in the Memorial Hall to enjoy the company of each other, listen to outside speakers, go on outings and visit local restaurants.
Membership which stands at around 90 men and women is drawn from the village and from neighbouring villages and Tenterden. Every year the club adopts for twelve months either a national or local charity and holds fund raising activities to support the cause.
This year our fund raising is centred around Team Ben Hammond and recently we held a Garden Party, the proceeds from which will be added to other amounts from raffles and a small change collection jar. A cheque will be presented later this year.
In choosing a charity for 2018, Team Ben Hammond was considered appropriate because of its local nature. The family are well known to many of our members, all of whom wanted to acknowledge the tremendous work they and their supporters are doing for young people in the area.
In the past the club has supported amongst others: Guide Dogs for the Blind, Kent Air Ambulance, St Mary’s Church, High Halden, British Legion, Help for Heroes, Memorial Hall High Halden and Demelza Children’s Hospice.
